Gold worth Rs 33 lakh seized from woman passenger at Bhubaneswar Airport

Bhubaneswar: After a brief lull, the Air Intelligence Unit of Customs at the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) on Tuesday seized around 960 gram of gold worth Rs 33 lakh from a woman passenger.

According to sources, the lady passenger, who hails from Maharastra, has arrived at the airport from Delhi by Air India flight AI-o77.During the search, nine pieces of gold bars were recovered from her personal baggage.This apart, as many as 122 packets of cigarettes worth Rs 1,22,000 was also seized from her baggage.Both items were detected under meticulous scanning during the checked-in process.A further investigation in this regard is on.
