Dreaded criminal injured in police firing in Puri

Puri: A dreaded criminal, one of the accused in a firing case, was arrested following an encounter with police at Talabania in Puri town late last night.The criminal, identified as Rashmi Ranjan Panda, sustained bullet injuries on his left leg. He was initially admitted to the district headquarters hospital and later shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.According to sources, a police team launched an operation following a tip-off about Rashmi's movement in the locality late last night. However, he opened fire at the police team and sustained injuries when the cops fired in retaliation.

Notably, one Rakesh Nayak (25) was shot at by four miscreants near Siddha Mahavir Square under Town police limits here last night.
