Two BJD Leaders Resign After Denied Tickets

Bhubaneswar: Two BJD leaders from Sundergarh and Kalahandi districts resigned from the party after being denied tickets to contest in the Odisha Assembly elections.

BJD's tribal leader from Sundergarh, Kusum Tete, and party's Kalahandi general secretary, Pramod Patnaik, have tendered their resignation letter to party president Naveen Patnaik today. On March 17, Kusum Tete had resigned from the post of Sundargarh Special Development Council (SDC) Chairperson as she was hopeful of getting a ticket to contest polls from Sundargarh Assembly constituency. However, selection of Jogesh Singh to contest the polls on party ticket did not go well with Tete.

While breaking down before the media, Tete said that she was ignored by the party even after sincerely working for the last five years, following which she was forced to quit BJD. She, however, said that she will be contesting elections anyway after consultation with her supporters. BJD's Kalahandi general secretary Pramod Patnaik, who also resigned from the party, expressed dissatisfaction over the distribution of tickets for Junagarh constituency after the party named Dibya Shankar Mishra for the seat yesterday.
