Former Ghasipura MLA candidate hacked to death over suspected political rivalry

Keonjhar: Former Ghasipura MLA candidate Ramachandra Behera was allegedly hacked to death by unidentified miscreants last night over suspected political rivalry.According to sources, some unknown men called Behera from his Dharakote residence last night and allegedly attacked him with sharp weapons before fleeing the scene.
Behera was initially rescued to Anandpur hospital and later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack as his health condition deteriorated. However, he succumbed to his injuries.
Reportedly, police have arrested four persons suspected to be involved in the attack on the ex-chairman of Anandpur block and launched a probe into the matter.

Preliminary investigation suggests that Behera was murdered over a political rivalry. Irate over the incident, locals have blocked the road.On being asked, Anandpur SDPO Bidyut Panda said, "Four police teams consisting 5 Inspectors-in-charge, 2 Deputy Superintendents of Police and the Additional SP have been pressed in to monitor the situation."The dead body has been sent for post-mortem and further investigations are on in this case, the SDPO said.
