Pipili Bjd MLA Candidate Pradeep Maharathy Arrested

Pipili: Pipili Bjd Mla candidate and senior Bjd leader Pradeep Maharathy arrested by police today. The Magistrate of Poll Flying Squad and the members of Static Surveillance team sustained critical injuries after being allegedly attacked by the supporters of sitting BJD MLA of Pipili Pradeep Maharathy inside his farmhouse at Hunkeipur last night. District magistrate of Puri Jyotiprakash Das  informed the Chief Electoral Officer Surendra Kumar Today.Pipili police,after interrogation, arrested Mr Maharathy.A team of senior BJP leaders met CEO and had demanded the arrest of Mr Maharathy.

All the injured persons including the magistrate Rabi Narayan Patra have been admitted to the Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar with critical injuries. Reportedly, Patra sustained a grievous injury on his waist, as a result, which, he is unable to walk.In a statement to media persons at the Capital Hospital, Patra said that they had received input from Pipili IIC about the distribution of money and liquor in the farmhouse of the Maharathy. Following which, he led three teams comprising a flying squad, static surveillance team, and the BDO surveillance to raid the farmhouse at midnight.

However, on reaching the farmhouse, Maharathy and his supporters started abusing the squad members and then attacked them. ASI Binay Kumar Das, driver Dipak, two videographers Purna Chandra Das and Susanta Pradhan of the BDO surveillance team were seriously injured in the violent attack, Patra said, adding that they had to escape the spot leaving one of their vehicles behind.A probe has been initiated in this regard and one platoon of armed police forces deployed near the farmhouse to maintain law and order, informed Puri SP, Uma Shankar Das.
