Three engineering students arrested for peddling ganja

Cuttack: Three engineering students were arrested by the Central Excise Intelligence officials during a raid at Madhupatna Square in Cuttack today on the charges of peddling ganja.

The arrested were identified as Ashish Kumar Bighal (32), Manamadhia Bighal (33) and Ranjan Kumar Bighal (26). All three are natives of Kandhamal.Under the directives of Excise deputy commissioner Ramchandra Palata, a team including Inspectors Bajyanti Panda, Jagdish Samal, Dhananjay Patra, Kishore Kumar Rout, Ranjan Patra, Ramchandra Jena intercepted a Swift Dzire car at Madhupatna Square.During the search, the cops found 32 kg of ganja hidden inside the car. Following the seizure of contraband, the cops arrested the students involved in the illegal business for further interrogation into the matter.The contraband was being transported to Cuttack from Kandhamal, said the officials and added that after reaching Cuttack, the consignment would have been smuggled to Bangalore.
