Odisha's newly-elected MP Chandrani Murmu makes it to the cover of India Today

Bhubaneswar: Odisha's newly elected MP from Keonjhar Lok Sabha constituency Chandrani Murmu made it to the cover page of India Today with the tag'THE NEW BRIGADE'.

The cover pic of the Magazine carries the picture of the politicians who have made their debut in the Lok Sabha Election 2019.

Besides Murmu, the cover featured Assam’s newly elected MP Pallab Lochan Das from Tezpur Parliamentary constituency, Bengali actress turned politician Mimi Chakraborty and former cricketer Gautam Gambhir, actor turned politician Amol Kohle, Ravi Kishan, and Tejasvi Surya.

Chandrani Murmu of Tikargumura village in the Keonjhar district of Odisha is a BTech graduate from the SOA (Siksha O’ Anusandhan) University in Bhubaneswar. She was fielded by the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD).

Chandrani, whose father Sanjiv Murmu is a government employee and mother Urvashi a retiree of the ICDS (Integrated Development Child Services) government department, also became the youngest ever Lok Sabha member.

She is one of seven women MPs Odisha has sent to Parliament. This made Odisha the first state where women MPs comprise 33 per cent of the total of 21 parliamentarians who represent the state in the Lok Sabha.
