Bhubaneswar: A large number of Kanwariyas have thronged the Shaiva pithas across the State to pour water and offer prayers.This is thelast Monday of holy Shravan month.So Shiva Bhaktas are taking the blessings of Lord Shiva by pouring water on the Linga.
The devotees are collecting their nearby rivers and moving to Shiva Temples. The Gadagadia Ghat of Mahanadi at Cuttack has been crowded as thousands of devotees are taking water there and going towards Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar, Lokanath Temple at Puri, Chandrasekhar Temple at Kapilas in Dhenknal district and Akhandalmani Temple at Aradi in Bhandrak district.
All over the state village Shiva Temples have witnessed heavy rush. Braving heavy rains, the devotees are marching ahead in streets and roads.There are free food service stalls on the roadside for kanwariyas in many places.
This north-Indian tradition of kanwariyas walk has is becoming famous in Odisha day by day.People of all walks of life including women are joining in the walk with bare foot.
