Eviction Drive Starts Near Srimandir At Puri

Puri: The eviction drive adjacent to Meghnad Wall has been started  near Srimandir in Puri town today.

Amidst tight security the demolition drive was started by the district administration in presence of eight magistrates.The structures and buildings around the boundary wall of the centuries old shrine. 

The district administration has deployed around 24 platoons of police forces near Srimandir.

All buildings including private properties, shoe stands, government installations like power supply building, temple information centre and a police outpost located within 75 metre of the Jagannath Temple will be vacated. 

Owing to ensure safety and security of Srimandir,the district administration has come forward after a proposal was approved in a cabinet meeting presided by chief minister Naveen Patnaik recently.

A senior officer of district administration has said that the private properties owners will be adequately compensated. At the same time the government establishments will be shifted to suitable places.
