Centre Approves 3338 Cr For Fani-hit Odisha

New Delhi: Centre has approved additional assistance of Rs 3338.22 crore for cyclone FANI-affected Odisha today.The High Level Committee (HLC) chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah has approved and annonced in New Delhi. The committee also sanctioned 
Rs 1029.39 crore to Karnataka for drought and Rs 64.49 crore to Himachal Pradesh for avalanches and hailstorm.


 
The amount is high in comparison to  funds released to other states by Centre. The cyclone Fani had devastated the coastal Odisha with the eye of the cyclone was at Puri in the first week of May. It has caused severe damages in the state. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had visited Odisha on May 6 just  three days after the cyclone. He had announced an interim assistance of Rs 1000 crore and released immediately. He also announced an ex-gratia sum of Rs 2 lakh were provided to next of the kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to seriously injured in the cyclone from the PMs Relief Fund.After that a central team had visited Fani-hit Odisha and submitted a report before Centre.
