P Chidambaram Denied Anticipatory Bail

New Delhi : The Delhi High Court dismissed the anticipatory bail petition of Congress leader and former Union minister P Chidambaram in the  money laundering cases related to the INX Media scam today.    Justice Sunil Gaur has rejected the petition denying relief to Chidambaram. 

Chidambaram will now go to Supreme Court. Senior lawyer and Congress leader Kapil Sibal will advocate for him in Supreme Court. Earlier on May 15, 2017, the CBI had registered an FIR, in which irregularities were alleged in the FIPB clearance granted to the media group for receiving overseas funds in 2007. At that time    Chidambaram  was the finance minister.ED had also lodged a money laundering case in 2018.

On Monday, the Enforcement Directorate had summoned Chidambaram in connection with its money-laundering case.

According to the officials, Chidambaram was asked to appear on August 23 before the investigating officer at Enforcement Directorate office in Delhi. Previously former aviation minister Prafulla Patel was quizzed by ED officials.
