Justice B P Das New Chairperson Of OHRC

Bhubaneswar: Justice B P Das has been appointed as the Chairperson of Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC). Advocate Asim Amitabh Das will be the  OHRC member.Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal approved the appointments of Justice Sri  Das and advocate Sri Das.

The Acting Chairperson of OHRC Justice BK Mishra had retired on August 15 last year.After one year Justice B P Das' name has been cleared for the post. Justice R K Patra was the Chairman of OHRC till 2012.


A four-member committee comprising the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Assembly Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro, Leader of the Opposition Pradipta Kumar Naik and Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi held a meeting to select new chairperson and member of OHRC  recently. The committee had recommended the names of Justice BP Das and Asim Amitabh to Governor for approval.
