40 BSF Posts Targeted in Fresh Firing by Pakistan in Jammu

Jammu, Oct 7:  40 BSF posts were targeted last night by Pakistan Rangers in fresh firing and mortar shelling along the International Border in Jammu. Firing is still on at certain places.

Last night's firing is the 12th violation by Pakistan in October alone of the ceasefire struck between the countries in 2003.

Almost all the BSF posts in Kanachak and Pargwal sectors were targeted last night. Posts in RS Pura and Arnia sectors were also targeted. Three persons have been injured in the firing Sources in BSF say they gave a fitting reply to the firing from Pakistan Rangers.

Five civilians were killed and nearly 30 were injured in the Jammu and Poonch areas following firing by the Pakistani Rangers that began on Sunday night.

Defence Minister Arun Jaitley who was discharged from hospital on Monday after a long illness had warned, "Let everybody be assured that our armed forces and para-military forces are fully ready and they are responding to each of these provocations from Pakistan."
