Bhubaneswar, Oct 13: East Coast Railways (ECoR) decided to run a passenger special train between Bhubaneswar and Visakhapatnam as part of its efforts to establish rail connectivity between the two stations after Cyclone Hudhud battered the coastal Andhra and southern Odisha on Sunday.
The special train will stop at all the stations between Palasa and Visakhapatnam, ECoR release said.
The repair of railway lines is in progress by the Railway emergency staff on war footing at major locations affected by the severe cyclonic storm yesterday.
However, some of the regular trains will be cancelled, short terminated and diverted. The Bhubaneswar-CSTM (Mumbai) Konark Express has been diverted via Vizianagaram, Raipur, Nagpur and Ballarshah. Howrah-Hyderabad East Coast Express will be diverted via Kharagpur, Jharsuguda, Nagpur and Ballarshah and Dibrugarh-Kanyakumari Vivek Express left Dibrugarh on October 11 will be diverted via Kharagpur-Jharsuguda-Nagpur.
Dhanbad-Alleppy Express will be diverted via Kharagpur-Jharsuguda-Titilagarh- Raipur-Nagpur. Bhubaneswar-Jagdalpur Hirakhand Express have been short terminated at Rayagada and will remain cancelled between Rayagada and Jagdalpur. Rayagada-Bhubaneswar Hirakhand Express scheduled to leave Jagadalpur on October 14 will originate from Rayagada instead of Jagdalpur and will remain cancelled between Jagadlpur & Rayagada on Tuesday.
Howrah-Jagdalpur Samaleswari Express that left Howrah on Sunday and the one scheduled to leave Howrah on Monday, will be short terminated at Titilagarh and will be cancelled between Titilagarh & Jagadalpur from both the directions.
Rourkela-Koraput Inter City left Rayagada on Sunday and scheduled to leave Rourkela on Monday will be short terminated at Rayagada and will remain cancelled between Rayagada and Koraput from both the directions.
Visakhapatnam-Hyderabad Express,Visakhapatnam-Secunderabad Garib Rath Express, Visakhapatnam-Korba Express and Visakhapatnam-LTT Express scheduled to leave Visakhapatnam today will remain cancelled from Visakhapatnam due to cancellation and short termination of connecting trains, the ECoR release said.
