Naveen Patnaik not to celebrate birthday due to cyclone

Bhubaneswar, Oct 15: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik would not celebrate his 68th birthday on October 16 in view of the cyclone Hudhud which left thousands of people homeless besides killing three persons.

"In view of the Hudhud, Chief Minister will not celebrate his birthday this year," a communication received from the Chief Minister's Office said.

Patnaik, took this decision after returning from his visit to the cyclone affected districts in the southern region of the state, it said.

Last year also, Patnaik could not celebrate his birthday as the state was hit by cyclone Phailin in which more than 20 people were killed and thousands homeless.

Patnaik is the youngest son of late chief minister Biju Patnaik.
