Public Transport System resumes in 3 Districts

Koraput, Oct 15: The public transport system in Koraput, Malkangiri and Rayagada districts, which were badly affected by the severe cyclonic storm Hudhud on Sunday, has resumed today.

All the buses have started operating on their regular routes from Tuesday as the roads that were blocked by the trees and other small objects were cleared. The bus services to neighbouring state Andhra have also resumed.

However, the rail services from Koraput to other areas have remained affected as the railway tracks between Koraput and Rayagada are blocked at several places by the debris due to the cyclone. Jagdalpur-Bhubaneswar Hirakhand Express was short-terminated at Rayagada yesterday and Jagdalpur-Howrah Samaleswari Express short-terminated at Titlagarh.

Normalcy has been back in Gajapati district, which was worst affected due to cyclone Hudhud, with the resoration of the power and water supply and public transporation services. The residents are still facing problems in the aftermath of the storm as the essential items like grocery, vegetables, milk and fuel are not available there.
