Xavier Digital University launched in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, Oct 17: The Xavier university on Thursday launched Xavier Digital University, the first digital university of the country, to provide modern tools and technologies to the teachers and students.

Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Resources minister Pradeep Maharathy inaugurated the digital university in presence of Panchyati Raj and Law Minister Arun Sahoo. IBM Regional Manager Mayank Jha, Juniper Networks Pvt Ltd senior consultant Kiran Mohan Das, HP India Sales Pvt Ltd chief technical officer M Lakshmi Narayan Rao, and Vice-Chancellor and Director of the XIMB, Xavier University Fr Paul Fernandes SJ were also present during the launch of the facility.

The digital university would provide teaching methodologies, including several key technologies like 'Xavier Videobook', the platform that makes use of several patented technologies and 'Xavier My Room', which creates a platform to host virtual classrooms and peer-interaction, using high quality video and audio conferencing. The Xavier SIMS is another unique tool introduced here to allow improved management of the overall system by the administration. The university has a digital library that boasts of a collection of more than 39,000 titles available online to the students and faculty at all times.
