Bhubaneswar, Oct 21: The Odisha government on Tuesday signed a MoU with the Indian Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) for light and sound shows at four tourist sites in the state to attract the tourists.
Initially, the lights and sound shows will be introduced at the major tourist destinations of the state - Konark, Khandagiri, Udaygiri and Dhauli.
The MoU was signed by Ashok Kumar Tarenia, director of Odisha Tourism and Trinath Behera, director (Finance) of IDTC at the State Secretariat in presence of chief minister Naveen Patnaik, chief secretary GC Pati, Development Commissioner AP Padhi and other senior officials of the concerned departments.
The government estimated an amount of Rs 18 crore for the project. While the Centre will bear an expenditure of Rs 5 crore for each monument, the rest amount will be spent by state government.
The move to develop the tourism in the state is being taken in view of the possible flow of tourists during Nabakalebar of Lord Jagannath in 2015. The project will be completed before Nabakalebar.
