Odisha BJP leader Ashok Sahu suspended from Party

Bhubaneswar, Oct 23: Senior BJP leader Ashok Sahu paid a big price for his straightforwardness and anti-party comment over Kandhamal Lok Sabha by-poll, as he was suspended from the party today.

Odisha BJP vice president Ashok Sahu had blamed the state leadership for the defeat of BJP in Kandhamal Lok Sabha by-poll. It can be said that he was one of the aspirants to get a ticket from the party for the by-poll.

He took on the party by saying that the wrong approach of the state leadership was responsible for the poor performance in Kandhamal despite Prime Minister Narendra Modi wave across the nation that led to victories in Maharashtra and Haryana.

Sahu had expressed his dissatisfaction over Rudra Madhab Ray chosen overnight as the party candidate for the bypoll. He had strongly opposed the decision by the party saying, Ray, who was dismissed from BJD, was given a ticket hurriedly just a day after being inducted into the BJP.

He stated that the party had campaigned extensively following all the election strategies and the victory could be scripted in favour of BJP, but the calculation went wrong even though Modi wave. He had called for a self introspection among the state BJP leaders to review why the party failed to occupy Kandhamal seat.
