Illegal slums evicted for Nabakalebar

Puri: The district administration today launched eviction drive at Ramachandi Balikuda area here for the preparation of Nabakalebar festival.

Adequate police forces have been deployed to avoid any type of eventuality. At least 20 platoons of police force along with eights DSPs and 12 inspectors have been mobilized. Sub-collector and municipal officials are also present during the eviction.

Guests houses will be constructed on the evicted area for Nabakalebar. Notification was made in this regard earlier. On the other hand, slum dwellers protested government’s move and demanded rehabilitation.
