Cyclone Nilofar to hit Gujarat on Oct 31

New Delhi, Oct 27: Two weeks after very severe cyclonic storm Hudhud battered coastal Andhra Pradesh and southern Odisha, another storm is set to hit India, this time in coastal Gujarat.

According to Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Cyclone Nilofar, which has developed over the Arabian Sea, will make landfall in the western Gujarat on Oct 31 morning at a wind speed of 100-110 kmph or 125 kmph.

The storm will intensify into a very severe cyclonic storm during next 24 hours and would move initially northwards and then recurve northeastwards and cross north Gujarat and adjoining Pakistan coast around Naliya by 5.30 am on October 31.

The IMD predicted that the storm will trigger rainfall at most of the places and heavy rainfall along coastal districts of of Saurashtra and Kutch from October 30.
