BJP to form Govt in Delhi as LG gets President Nod

News

New Delhi, Oct 28: After Haryana and Maharashtra, Delhi will also go to the hands of BJP as the party is all set to form the government in the national capital. It can be said that Delhi lieutenant governor Najeeb Jung has reportedly got permission to allow the saffron party for the government formation.

According to media reports, President Pranab Mukherjee is learnt to have given a nod to Jung to explore the possibility of government formation by inviting BJP which finished as the single largest party in the last year assembly elections.

However, the party falls short of majority for the government. The Centre will inform the Supreme Court of President view on government formation on Tuesday during the hearing on a petition filed by AAP seeking the dissolution of Delhi assembly.

The development comes in the wake of Election Commission notification scheduling by-polls for three assembly seats - Krishna Nagar, Tughlaqabad and Mehrauli — in Delhi in November.

If the BJP wins all the 3 seats in the by-polls, the number will be increased from 29 to 32, closer to majority-mark in the 70-member assembly.
