Home Ministry to formulate Strategy to curb Cyber Crime

Hyderabad, Oct 31: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said that his ministry is working on to formulate counter-strategy to deal with the increasing numbers of cyber crime in India.

While attending a function at Sardar Vallabhbai Patel National Police Academy on the outskirts of Hyderabad on the occasion of birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbai Patel, Singh said, "Cyber crime not only has local but global impact. I have given directives in my department to formulate an effective prevention strategy to prevent cyber crime".

He expressed his concern over the growing numbers of cases of cyber crime at the parade. From a mere 23 incidents of cyber crime in 2004, the number has jumped to a whooping 72,000 in the country in a decade, say reports.

In just the first five-months this year, the cyber security arm Computer Emergency Response Team-India (CERT-In) indicates that 62,189 cyber security incidents were reported.
