Govt takes Initiatives to Protect Art Forms in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Nov 01: Odisha government has decided to form Urban Art and Culture Groups to include all traditional artists residing in urban areas in various Government awareness programmes to protect their art forms.

Attending a high level meeting, chief minister Naveen Patnaik reviewed the various awareness programme undertaken through the Art and Culture Federation. He directed the concerned authorities to form an Urban and Culture Group in every city of the state having one lakh population (minimum) and including the artists in the awareness programmes.

Patnaik also directed to include all the traditional artists in the federation, asking officials to take initiatives to protect unitary forms of Janughanta Parshuram, Kebera and Chakulia Pandas. About 80,000 artists have been enrolled with the Art and Culture Federation so far.
