Cut in Bus Fare Likely in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Nov 01: Odisha government may cut the bus fare again after the reduction in prices of petrol and diesel in the country. Transport minister Ramesh Majhi said that after diesel price reduction, bus fare will be slashed again. The decision will come after the Tech committee decides new fare.

Earlier, Majhi had indicated about cut in bus fare saying, if the diesel prices will go down in the country, the bus fare will be reduced accordingly, following the fresh cut in the bus fare in the state 3 days ago.

The decision comes a day after Petrol price was on Friday cut by Rs 2.41 a litre, the sixth reduction since August, and diesel by Rs 2.25 per litre.

Recently, the government on Oct 29 had reduced the bus fare by 1 paise per km for ordinary and express buses and 2 paise per km for deluxe and deluxe AC buses.
