Bhubaneswar, Nov 03: Odisha BJD MP Bhartuhari Mahatab, who had expressed his displeasure over the suspension of Banki MLA Pravat Tripathy from the party, took a U turn saying, he supported the decision of chief regarding this matter.
He said that, "I agree with party chief decision on suspension of Tripathy", after party spokesman Amar Prasad Satapathy opposed his statement saying he could have raised the issue in a party forum instead of expressing his displeasure in media.
Mahatab on Saturday had questioned the decision of chief minister Naveen Patnaik on suspension of Pravat Tripathy after his arrest and described it as unjustified. "The party should not have abandoned him when he is in distress," Mahatab had said describing the CBI probe into the chit fund scam as politically motivated.
However, Mahatab changed his version to patch up the matter.
Tripathy was suspended from party minutes after he was arrested by the CBI for his alleged link with chit fund firm Artha Tatwa (AT) Group that has duped thousands of people in the state.
