Odisha born Bikram Mohanty in Georgia Senate Race

Bhubaneswar, Nov 03: Bikram Mohanty, an Odia youth, has been chosen by the US President Barack Obama as the candidate of Democratic Party to contest the Georgia state Senate elections.

Mohanty is in the Senator race for Georgia state for the second time. Earlier, he lost the poll with few votes in November 2012. He is the first Odia who contested the elections in the US.

Mohanty hails from Chandbali of Bhadrak district. He migrated to the US after completing his graduation in Bhadrak College. Later, he joined National Institute for Ortho, Calcutta in 1988 and moved to USA in 1994.

He is son of social activist Batakrushna Mohanty. He has been living in Lowndes County for last 16 years. He is the founder and CEO of Innovative Rehab Solutions.
