Puri, Nov 05: At least 48 platoons of police force would be deployed in Puri to control the crowd during Panchuka. Reviewing the stock of situation in the pilgrim city, DGP Sanjeev Marik said that proper arrangements would be made for the darshan of three lords in Shree Jagannath temple during Kartik Purnima on Thursday,

Marik said that 48 platoons of police personnel, 185 senior officers, 11 DSPs and 450 home guards would be deployed at Puri, Sakhigopal, Konark and Satpada (Chilika) for the Kartik Purnima festival on Thursday. For the smooth darshan of Lords, separate provision would be made for senior citizens.

He refuted the allegations about the death of a woman due to stampede at the temple premises on Monday. The woman died of cardiac arrest, he said.
