Former Bolangir Collector Arrested in Recruitment Scam

Bhubaneswar, Nov 07: Former district collector of Bolangir Debraj Mishra was arrested by the Odisha vigilance on Friday here on charges of involvement in irregularities of recruitment of Revenue Inspectors (RIs), Assistant Revenue Inspectors (ARIs) and Amins.

Earlier, Mishra was suspended in September for allegedly making irregularities in the appointment of revenue department posts during his tenure as the District Collector from August 2012 to July 2013.

Following his suspension, the state government had ordered a crime branch probe into the allegations. The Crime Branch during its investigation had registered the case at SDJM Bolangir  against Mishra along with four OAS officers - Anita Panda, Binod Bihari Das, Raghunath Mundari and Ripunath Suna - and senior clerk Niranjan Tripathy in connection with the recruitment scam.
