RSS Strongman Laxmikant Parsekar sworn-in as Goa CM

Panaji, Nov 08: Putting all the speculation to rest over the rebellion in the Goa BJP, Health Minister Laxmikant Parsekar was sworn-in as the new chief minister of the state after Manohar Parrikar resigned from the post on Saturday ahead of his induction in the Union Cabinet.

Laxmikant Parsekar, the RSS strongman, was administered oaths of office and secrecy by Governor Mridula Sinha after the state BJP elected him unanimously at the legislature party meeting as the CM of the state.

Francis D'Souza, who was among the frontrunners for the state's top post, would continue as the Deputy CM. He was also administered oaths of office and secrecy by Governor Mridula Sinha.

BJP leader Rajiv Pratap Rudy told media that the name of Parsekar was proposed by outgoing CM Manohar Parrikar and seconded by Deputy CM Francis D'Souza, who was also in the race for chief ministership.
