Bhubaneswar, Nov 08: The Centre is likely to select Bhubaneswar for the permanent campus of the proposed Indian Institute of Management (IIM). Even though, the Odisha government had recommended 12 locations across six districts to the HRD. However, the union ministry will take a final call on the campus selection.
Sources said that the state government has finalised three locations on the the outskirts of Bhubaneswar- near IIIT, Gothapatna, near IIT campus at Argul and a location between Bhubaneswar and Jatni.
Earlier, the Union HRD secretary Ashok Thakur had asked the state chief secretary to suggest suitable locations free-of-cost land, litigation free land, free from all encumbrances and having infrastructure facilities such as international airport, NH or good roads, and railway connectivity.
It should be noted that the state capital meets all the norms set by the central government for the set up of the IIM in Odisha.
