Nandankanan gets 4 Lions from Bangalore Zoo

Bhubanewar, Nov 10: Four Lions including two female lions were brought to Nandankanan Zoological Park from Bangalore (Bengaluru) zoo. The condition of the wild life are stated to be good.

The lions were brought to Nandankanan under animal exchange programme on Sunday. All four are hybrid type and belong to an age group of 4 to 5 years.

Earlier, the Nandankanan zoo authorities had requested the Central Zoo Authority (CZA) to have lions and lionesses for increasing the number of lions in the Zoological Park.

A five-member team of the Nandankanan zoo led by veterinary Dr. Anil Dash and Ranger Anjan Kumar Mohanty had gone to Bannerghatta on November 2 to bring the animals. It should be noted that 19 animals were deported to Bangalore zoo from the Nandankanan to get four lions, as per the animal exchange programme.
