Bhubaneswar, Nov 12: After facing strong criticism from opposition and other organisations over the failure to protect the interests of daily labourers migrating to other states, the Odisha government has decided to register the construction workers from Odisha working outside the state.
This was decided at a high level meeting chaired by chief minister Naveen Patnaik at state secretariat here on Wednesday.
With the latest move, the registered construction workers will get all the government benefits. This will also be applicable to those working inside Odisha.
As per the decision, the workers will get housing loans of 1 lakh on an interest rate of 2%. They will also be provided the skill upgradation training with certificates from National Council of Vocational Training (NCVT).
