Pinaki condemns Reports of Cash in Press Kit

Puri, Nov 13: Condemning the reports that the journalists were allegedly bribed during his press meet at a hotel in Puri, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MP Pinaki Mishra on Thursday termed the incident as extremely "unfortunate". He said that strongest action should be taken against the culprits for doing so.

"It is an unfortunate incident, it was a UCO bank event, and we will take this up with the chairman. Strongest possible action has to be taken in this regard. There is nothing more unfortunate for me than this," said Mishra.

His statement came after the entire media criticised the BJD MP for the shocking incident at a press meet where over a dozen of journalists including reporters and cameramen found Rs 200 each in their kits.

The media persons present during the event started protesting against such type of act. They lodged an FIR against Mishra and BJD MLA Maheswar Mohanty, who was accompanying him during the press meet, at the Sea Beach police station yesterday, alleging the duo tried to bribe them for a coverage in favour of them.
