Odia Girl Saina Salonika receives National Child Award in Chess

New Delhi, Nov 15: World U-10 Girls' Chess Champion Odia girl Saina Salonika received the National Child Award 2014 for her achievements in different fields including chess from the President of India Pranab Mmukherjee on Friday.

She received a citation, a silver medal and Rs 10, 000 in cash at a ceremony in Durbar Hall of Rashtrapati Bhavan on the occasion of Children's Day.

World Under-10 Girl's Chess Champion Woman Candidate Master Saina was awarded for Exceptional Achievements for her outstanding performance in the field of Chess, modeling, anchoring, dance, fashion show, English Olympiad and philately.

Twenty children from different parts of the country, who have done the best in the fields like Carnatic music, Hindustani music, computer application, innovative skills, scientific innovations, mountaineering,, painting, bravery etc, were selected to get the silver medals.
