IS beheads American Hostage Peter Kassig

New Delhi, Nov 17: The Islamic State militants issued a video that claimed the beheading of another American hostage, Peter Kassig, sending a warning note to the US that they would kill other citizens on the streets of America.

US President Barack Obama confirmed the death of the aid worker calling it "an act of pure evil" by a terrorist group that the world rightly associates with inhumanity. He was killed on Sunday.

"ISIL's actions represent no faith, least of all the Muslim faith which Abdul-Rahman adopted as his own. Today we grieve together, yet we also recall that the indomitable spirit of goodness and perseverance that burned so brightly in Abdul-Rahman Kassig, and which binds humanity together, ultimately is the light that will prevail over the darkness of ISIL," the White House said in a statement.

Peter Kassig was the fifth American, who was beheaded by the group, in an ongoing fight against terrorism. He was from Indiana, was also known as Abdul-Rahman, a name he took after converting to Islam in captivity. His family has said he was taken captive on his way to the Syrian city of Deir al-Zor on Oct. 1, 2013.
