Cuttack, Nov 17: Orissa High Court on Monday rejected the poll petition of BJD leader Rabi Narayan Nanda and he was slapped with Rs 5,000 as fine, for delay in applying the review petition.

As per the rule, the review petition should be filed within 45 days of publication of the election results. However, Nanda had filed the petition 60 days after the announcement of election verdict.

Nanda, who was defeated from Congress candidate Taraprasad Bahinipati in Jeypore in the assembly elections this year, had approached the high court challenging the result of the assembly constituency.
