Modi remembers Indira Gandhi on her 97th Birthday

Suva, Nov 19: Far from India, prime minister Narendra Modi remembered country's strong woman Indira Gandhi on her 97th birth anniversary today. He took to Twitter to pay his tributes to former Prime Minister.

"I join my fellow countrymen and women in remembering our former PM Smt. Indira Gandhi on her birth anniversary. My tributes,".

Modi, who is currently in Fiji as part of his 10-day tour, did not forget to pay his tributes.

Here in India, Congress president Sonia Gandhi and party vice-president Rahul Gandhi earlier in the day offered floral tributes to Indira Gandhi at her memorial in Shakti Sthal.

President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice President Hamid Ansari and former prime minister Manmohan Singh also offered floral tributes to Mrs Gandhi, country's first woman prime minister.

A series of functions have also been organized today to highlight contribution of Indira Gandhi in nation building.
