Winter Session of Odisha Assembly begins

Bhubaneswar, Nov 20: The winter session of Odisha assembly began amidst slogans raised by the opposition parties over mega chit fund scam in the state. The house was adjourned till 12.15 pm soon after the question hour on Thursday.

The opposition parties both Congress and BJP stalled the House shouting and holding the posters for which Speaker Niranjan Pujari could not run the house smoothly after it began in the morning.

The speaker adjourned the house after Congress MLAs approached his podium raising slogans against the ruling BJD over the chit fund scam.

Soon after the session began, the members observed one-minute silence after chief minister Naveen Patnaik moved a condolence motion recalling the great departed former members of the Assembly.

The ruling BJD was aware of the situation that the session would be stormy affair with the opposition parties that are planning to put the treasury benches on the floor by raising the multi-crore chit fund and mining scams.
