Chit Fund Scam rocks Odisha Assembly on Day Two

Bhubaneswar, Nov 21: The second day of the winter session began on a stormy note with the slogans raised by opposition Congress and BJP over the multi-crore chit fund scam in the House on Friday.

While Congress sought explanation from chief minister Naveen Patnaik on the issue, BJP legislators raised slogans following its female MLA Radharani Panda approached the well of the House demanding justice for the derogatory remarks against her made by agriculture minister Pradeep Maharathy in the House.

Congress alleged that the minister made objectionable remark against a woman legislator in the House yesterday to suppress the issue and avoid the discussion on the floor over the mega chit fund scam.

The Speaker Niranjan Pujari adjourned the House till 11.30 am following the uproar by both Congress and BJP members.

However, the house was again adjourned till 3 pm after the members from opposition parties created ruckus shouting the slogans against the ruling BJD over the ponzi scam.
