Rahul criticises Clean India Campaign, BJP retaliates

Ranchi, Nov 22: Since people have lost trust in the Congress, the party vice president Rahul Gandhi in an attempt to win people's heart once again criticised the Clean India campaign launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Gandhi started his election campaign holding two rallies in Manika and Panki districts of Jharkhand on Saturday.

While addressing the crowd, Gandhi attacked the BJP saying the party thinks such kind of drive would benefit them in the elections.

He called the "Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan" as a marketing gimmick saying, the BJP had promised development, but it has given broom in the hands of people.

"PM had promised "Ache Din" after he came to power. It has been months now, has your quality of life improved in any way. Marketing and photo ops do not contribute to the development of the nation," said Rahul.

Criticising Modi's Australia Trip, he further said that the UPA government had worked for the underprivileged section of the society, but the PM Modi was enjoying with the industrialists in Australia.

"We want you to benefit from the natural resources of the state but the opposition wants industrialists to benefit. Are the people of Jharkhand benefiting from its mineral wealth or is it going to someone else" Rahul asked the masses.

Later, while addressing at Panki, Rahul said that despite being rich in natural resources, Jharkhand is still not developed.

"There is no shortage in this state. There is water, forests, natural resources, but still this state is lagging behind. We guaranteed food for everyone with food security bill and have given you power with right to information," said Rahul.

"We brought Land Acquisition Bill, made sure, any person will have to take permission from Panchayat and farmers before acquiring land", added Rahul.

However, reacting to Rahul's remark over the Clean India Mission, Minister of State for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that polluted minds can not see cleanliness.

"Those who already have a polluted mind, cannot see cleanliness. Firstly, the Congress Party should clean the dirt from the minds of their leaders, and after that, they will automatically see the cleanliness," said Naqvi.
