Bhubaneswar, Nov 24: The task force committee headed by Additional Chief Secretary (Revenue) Tara Dutta investigating the process of allocation of plots and houses under discretionary quota (DQ) has recommended cancellation of the properties to the illegal beneficiaries.

The committee also recommended the government to attach the properties within three months. The report, which had been submitted to the government on illegal allotment of plots and flats under the discretionary quota, got leaked in media. IT showed that around
2,200 plots and flats were given to various people under the DQ between 1995 and 2014 from the BDA, the GA, the CDA and the Odisha State Housing Development Corporation by sheer misuse of power.

Nearly 200 people including politicians, ministers, journalists and bureaucrats were allotted more than one plot and flat over the period, the report said. The panel also recommended legal action against the culprits. The report was submitted on Oct 31.

The panel was constituted to probe into the illegal allotments of flats and plots after the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) found indiscriminate allotment of lands and houses under the DQ.
