Pravat Biswal, Wife clarify Seashore Link

Bhubaneswar, Nov 25: Cuttack-Choudwar MLA Pravat Biswal, who was recently grilled by the CBI for his alleged links with Seashore Group CMD Prashant Dash, clarified his nexus with the chit fund firm saying, he was interrogated about a land that his wife possessed in Jajpur and sold to Dash.

Revealing the CBI interrogation, Biswal said, "My wife had a land measuring 32 gunthas at Benapur village in Jajpur district, which the Seashore group had agreed to purchase in 2011 for Rs 29.25 lakh".

The firm had given two cheques of Rs 15 lakh and Rs 10 lakh in favour of the land owner Laxmi Bilasini Biswal, wife of Biswal, in April 2012. "After receiving the money against land, we had furnished the sale deed and only the registration part was left," said Mrs Biswal, who was also interrogated by the central probe agency three days ago.

However, it took another turn after the May 29 coup bid by Rajya Sabha MP and BJD's former No.2 leader Pyari Mohan Mohapatra against chief minister Naveen Patnaik following which Pyari was expelled.

Following the incident, the chit fund company did not show its interest to purchase the land and asked the couple to return money given against the land. "We cleared the amount given by Prashant Dash in July", Mrs Biswal said adding they are yet to receive the money receipt.
