Birendra Lakra in National Hockey Team for Champions Trophy

Bhubaneswar, Nov 25: Odia Hockey player Birendra Lakra found a place in the national team for Champions Trophy 2014, scheduled to begin at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar from December 6.

The players were selected after the trials conducted at the MDC National Stadium, New Delhi on November 18. Lakra, who has played 87 international matches so far, this will be his first international match here in front of the home crowd.

The team led by captain  Sardar Singh and vice captain PR Sreejesh will arrive on Nov 27 in Bhubaneswar where India will play their first match against Germany on Dec 6.

Later, the team will play against Argentina and the Netherlands on December 7 and 9 respectively. The final match will be held on Dec 14.
