Chit Fund Scam: No respite for Madhu Mohanty, to be in Jail

Cuttack, Nov 27: In a setback for newspaper owner Madhu Mohanty, who is behind the bars for his alleged link with chit fund firm AT group, did not get bail from the Orissa High Court too.

The High Court on Wednesday completed hearing on the bail application of Mohanty and reserved its verdict. He was arrested in connection with the chit fund scam in Odisha by the probe agency CBI and taken on remand.

Mohanty had moved to the high court last month after his bal plea was rejected by the CBI court and later by the Khurda District and Sessions Court.

Mohanty, owner of Odia daily Odisha Bhaskar, was taken into judicial custody after he was interrogated by the CBI for his alleged link with AT Group that had duped thousands of depositors in the state.
