Australian Cricketer Phillip Hughes dies at 25

Sydney, Nov 27: Australian cricketer Philips Hughes died in a hospital on Thursday. The 25-year player was injured on his head by a bouncer during a domestic match two days ago.

Governing body Cricket Australia (CA) confirmed the news that the young player lost his life after battling for two days. He was in comma after having emergency surgery to relieve pressure on his brain.

"We are extremely sad to announce that Phillip Hughes has passed away at the age of 25," CA said on its Twitter feed.

"Our thoughts go out to Phillip's family, friends, and the entire cricket community on this incredibly sad day", he added.

Hughes was injured after he was hit by a short delivery from Sean Abbott. Despite the helmet, the ball hit him just behind the ear as he went for the pull shot far too early.
