Amit Shah granted Permission by HC for Rally in Kolkata

Kolkata, Nov 29: In a big slap to Mamata Banerjee-led TMC government, the Calcutta High Court has granted BJP president Amit Shah permission to hold a rally in the city on Sunday.

Justice Debangshu Basak while allowing the saffron party to hold a rally, appointed two special officers to ensure the party compiles with all the rules.

Earlier, BJP moved to the high court after Kolkata Municipal Corporation had refused Amit Shah the permission to hold a rally in the city out of political grudge between TMC and BJP in the chit fund scam probe.

Mamata had reportedly instructed the local body not to allow Amit Shah for the rally after a few TMC leaders were named in the chit fund scam. She alleged that prime minister Narendra Modi-led NDA government is interfering in functioning of CBI against the regional party in the probe.
