NIA sends IS Youth Aarif Majeed to Custody till Dec 8

Mumbai, Nov 29: A special NIA court on Saturday sent Islamic State youth Aarif Majeed, who was allegedly inspired by ISIS ideologies and joined the outfit in war for Islam, to the agency custody till December 8 for further interrogation.

The NIA told the court that they wanted to unearth the entire conspiracy, the role the youth played in war in Iraq. The court observed that his custodial interrogation was necessary for the agency.

The court was told that three other youths, who had joined the ISIS along with Majeed are also wanted in the case.

Majeed was detained by the NIA after he landed in Mumbai on Friday. Later, he was taken into the custody. A case has been registered against IS militant Majeed and other three other youngsters under sections of Unlawful Assembly Prevention Act (UAPA) and section 125 of IPC which deals with waging war against any Asiatic country which has friendly ties with India.
