Celebrations in Odisha as Rituraj Mohanty wins Indias Raw Star

Bhubaneswar, Dec 01: It was a proud moment for entire Odisha as its boy Rituraj Mohanty won reality show "India's Raw Star" in Mumbai. He ruled the hearts of many by beating other finalists Darshan Raval from Ahmedabad and Mohit Gaur from Jaipur to become the winner with the highest votes and applause at the grand finale of the popular singing reality show on Sunday.

Rituraj walked away with cash prize of Rs 50 lakh, a contract with STAR Plus, Maruthi Swift car and a trophy. Celebrations started at homes and on the streets across Odisha when Nimapada boy made the state proud in the music industry. The social media sites were filled with congratulatory messages wishing the talented singer.

For Rituraj, Music is his passion and Sufi is his forte. Known for his mellifluous voice, Rituraj's consistent performance throughout the season of the reality show led him to victory.

"The fact that I have won this show is yet to sink in. Firstly, I would like to thank Yo Yo Honey Singh and STAR Plus for getting me on the show and for giving me such a huge platform to perform on," Ruturaj said after winning the keenly watched contest.

Popular singer Kailash Kher and Rituraj gave a heart-warming Sufi performance whereas Shaan teamed up with Mohit Gaur. Darshan, who performed with Mohit Chauhan, transported the audience to a romantic zone with their performance.

Hosted by Gauahar Khan, the finale episode also saw actor and dancer Rithvik Dhanjani doing gags that made the audience laugh out loud.

The finale also saw "Tevar" star Arjun Kapoor and music director duo Sajid-Wajid entertaining the viewers.

All the artistes and the celebrity singers came together to sing a special song on Swachh Bharat that was written and composed by talented duo Sachin and Jigar.
