Bhubaneswar, Dec 01: Hours after a top IPS officer Rajesh Kumar appeared before the CBI on Sunday, Kendrapada SP Satish Gajbhiye was grilled by the central agency in the evening in connection with the chit fund scam.
Gajbhiye reached the CBI office at around 7 pm and was questioned for over two and half hours on the basis of information found in the diary written by accused Subhankar Nayak.
Subhankar had mentioned about Gajbihiye, who was the SP of Dhenkanal earlier, in his diary. The builder had close links with the bureaucrats and police officers to benefit the Seashore group of companies.
Gajbhiye admitted that he knew Nayak, but denied having received any money from him.
"He introduced himself as a journalist in 2008-2009. That is how I came to know him. In public life, one keeps meeting all kinds of people and he was one of the many people I knew. But there was no special relationship between us" Gajbhiye said.
He did not know how his name appeared in Nayak's diary.
When asked what he was questioned about, Gajbhiye said, "It is between me and the investigating agency".
The 2002 batch IPS officer was the SP Dhenkanal before taking over as the commandant of OSAP and then Kendrapara SP.
